Responsible for the risk management oversite of transmission and distribution (T&D) asset maintenance programs, including the execution, training, standardization, data management and compliance aspects. This includes but is not limited to vegetation management, line patrols, pole inspections, join use and infrared testing programs all across Black Hills Energy electric utilities. 

SALARY RANGE: $95,350 - $157,300 (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise Asset Management Data Analyst(s) and Vegetation Management Program Mgr.
  • Develop and document best practices for the T&D asset management programs.
  • Ensure all T&D asset management programs are being properly executed and documented. 
  • Ensure the standardization of and compliance with established asset management programs. 
  • Support the collection of asset data for internal and external purposes.
  • Support the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability compliance standards requirements.
  • Ensure the workforce receives proper training relevant to asset management programs and procedures and that training is documented.
  • Ensure that technology solutions meet the needs of the organization while allowing extended teams (including contractors) to execute on work efficiently. Prepare operations and maintenance budget and capital budget to ensure compliance of asset management programs. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Support electric operations and engineering departmental personnel. 
  • Support safety, diversity and social responsibility goals of the department, business unit and corporation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NERC and Company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of (5) five years of experience in the utility industry, project management, asset management or related experience required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong supervision skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Strong skills in leadership and participation in cross functional utility teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in a team environment.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office and various specialized software Ability to learn and maintain proficiency with new systems and software as technology evolves.
  • Strong ability to document and track work goals.

Must be able to routinely perform this work for an average of 6-8 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or continuously to lift, carry, push, pull or sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if moving about is only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Willing to travel occasionally (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
