Job Specifications

The Sr. Software Development Analyst role is responsible for implementing, supporting and developing Black Hills Energy’s Cherwell Solutions including Cherwell Service Management (CSM) and Cherwell Asset Management (CAM).  This includes familiarity with the IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) framework as the position will maintain alignment between the Cherwell system, business processes, integration points, and software updates.  The role has an active responsibility to coordinate integration and improvement efforts with the internal/external systems and orchestrate successful delivery of change.

The Analyst will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the forms and workflows within the ITAM and ITSM applications.  They will work across the IT organization to help directly or via directing third-party vendors to extend the application platform capability to achieve broader IT Operations Management (ITOM) goals.

SALARY RANGE:   $84,050 - $126,100  (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Sr. Manager IT Services

LOCATION: Our Company Headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead support of the IT processes for incident management, problem management, change management, asset management, service request management (Service-Catalog/ITIL design).
  • Provide leadership to support new software versions which includes testing, documenting, analyzing new functionality, training and implementation of the release.
  • Create, configure, and troubleshoot forms, workflows, business rules, interfaces, reports, and general maintenance of system. 
  • Understand data models/relationships and support the Configuration Management and Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Be a subject matter expert as it relates to the functional and technical specifications for our ITAM and ITSM applications.
  • Develop strong relationships with end users to effectively solve problems and recommend good solutions.
  • Analyze dashboards/processes and make recommendation for changes with a continuous improvement mentality. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor information and make recommendation to prevent situations that might compromise compliance to controls, policies or expose the business to other security and financial risks. 
  • Ensure compliance with ITAM & ITSM best practices, policies, standards, and software licensing.
  • Accountable for change management and SOX compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of (5) five years of related experience supporting an enterprise application required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Software Engineering, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Experience implementing or maintaining ITAM/ITSM software/processes (Cherwell, ServiceNow, BMC, HP, CA Technologies)
  • Experience developing ITSM processes, roles and technology to support ITSM practices for a mid-sized organization.
  • Experience in application development and systems development life cycles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work within challenging situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Solid understanding of the importance of cybersecurity in protecting company technology assets.
  • Oversees continuous improvement activities.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or continuously to lift, carry, push, pull or sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if moving about is only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Willing to travel occasionally (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
