This role is responsible to monitor, inspect, and communicate reports on developments of electric transmission capital construction projects. This position will conduct on-site inspections to ensure the transmission and some distribution facilities align with quality of company standards, and customer service policies and procedures.

SALARY RANGE:   $78,200 - $117,300 (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Sr. Manager, Project Delivery

LOCATION: This position can be located in Pueblo, Colorado, Cheyenne, Wyoming or at Our Company Headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Review project documentation such as project management plans, schedules, and design drawings to ensure work on the project conform to all documentation.
  • Review and monitor contracted work to ensure construction progress to meet the expectations described in the project management plan.
  • Complete regular on-site field visits with contractor crews. Must be on-site when critical construction steps occur. Periodically participate in tailgate meetings, site specific procedures discussions, and project meetings.
  • Keep daily logs of each project inspected.
  • Ensure the quality of all work completed by contractor(s) prior to energization and project completion.
  • Identify, report, and correct concerns with quality of work and environmental issues.
  • Review field testing data to support compliance with project specifications.
  • Communicate with internal/external partners, related to scheduling, status updates, and expectations. 
  • Participate in constructability reviews of Tier 1 and 2 projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of (5) five years demonstrating experience in the construction and/or inspection of electric transmission and distribution facilities, project management, or other relevant experience, required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of safe working practices on a construction site.
  • Knowledge of electric utility construction practices.
  • Knowledge of project management methods. 
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of materials and construction equipment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direct supervision while still completing assigned tasks with a high degree of quality and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work from written and/or verbal instruction.
  • Possess basic computer and math skills.
  • Ability to interface directly with contractor personnel professionally.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee continuously moves about the office and the job sites and operates machines and equipment. Employee may occasionally use a respirator. Employee operates job related equipment and tools. Employee routinely performs this work for an average of 8-10 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is expected. 

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level and occasionally outdoors in sometimes inclement weather. Worker may be subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in places of height or close quarters. Willing to travel up to 50% (e.g., 2 weeks or 10 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job and the employee must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
