Job Specifications

Lead complete fleet life cycle activities across multiple BHE operating states.  Partner with field operations internal customers to provide support for all of their fleet service needs.  

SALARY RANGE:   $71,500 - $107,400  (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)


LOCATION:   Rapid City, SD

  • Responsible for execution of multi-state fleet capital acquisition strategy, upfit and disposal process – approximately 200 acquisitions and/or $10M in annual spend.
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating with individual business unit management teams to develop and submit accurate fleet asset acquisition requests for review and approval.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving daily maintenance repair requests in coordination with field internal customers.  
  • Identify opportunities to improve the fleet lifecycle management process.
  • Lead joint process improvement teams with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide reports from fleet management system to support standardization, cost reductions and other requests.
  • Provide data analysis for Fleet Services Department.
  • Assure compliance with all Department of Transportation, ANSI, OSHA, and Environmental regulations.
  • Analyze fleet management system data and provide input for opportunities for improvement and reduction of total cost of ownership.


  • Maintain an equipment specifications database and assist with maintaining fleet master list.
  • Work cooperatively with company and vendor employees.
  • Work as a team member to provide high-quality and timely service.


  • Minimum of five (5) years of fleet management or similar category management experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, computer, or related program required.


  • Experience working with the operation, maintenance, or administration of fleet of vehicles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fleet maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of Federal Motor Carriers and Department of Transportation Rules and Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of upfitting requirements.
  • Customer focused with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent proficiency with PC software, including spreadsheets, word processing, and databases.
  • High-energy self-starter with a desire to work in a dynamic organization.
  • Ability to maintain goals, target dates, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment to initiate action and provide consistent follow through.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or continuously to lift, carry, push, pull or sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if moving about is only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level and occasionally outdoors in sometimes inclement weather. Worker may be subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in places of height or close quarters. Willing to travel up to 25% (e.g., 1 week or 5 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job and the employee must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
