A supervisory and leadership role responsible for the management and oversight of enterprise natural gas measurement and quality processes and standards.  This position is responsible for ensuring all gas measurement equipment, programs and processes meet or exceed industry standards like AGA and BLM as well as meet the needs of all natural gas business groups while maintaining compliance with DOT and SOX and other governing regulations.  This function leads a team of experts with the responsibility to develop and update training materials as well as perform in-person and remote training for Company personnel and provide technical support related to the measurement function.  Further, this role is responsible for developing and updating Company technical standards and documentation related to measurement and gas quality programs.   

SALARY RANGE:   $87,600 - $144,400 (Determined by the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Senior Manager of Operation Technology and SCADA.

  • Lead a team of technical specialists in natural gas measurement, pressure regulation, over-pressure protection, and instrumentation such as flow computers, volume correctors, and gas quality analytical equipment.
  • Function as a project manager to lead projects related to the measurement function both internally to the group and externally to the enterprise.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and lead in the development and communication of new technical measurement standards as well as revisions of existing standards.
  • Develop and maintain measurement equipment standards, measurement operating procedures, training programs, and programming guides for measurement equipment and process including flow computers, correctors, and gas quality analytical equipment.
  • Determines gaps in current processes and practices and provides direction for implementation of new/improved processes that are consistent across the natural gas utility including regularly updating equipment standards or new and obsolete equipment and aiding Operations in planning for replacement pr
  • Be responsible for enterprise measurement related systems and processes including applicable SOX controls.
  • Function as a specialist for all measurement industry regulations (including the AGA and the Bureau of Land Management) and all pipeline assets concerning measurement equipment, gas flow characteristics, gas quality measurement and measurement data flow while maintaining relationships and reporting requirements with several governing agencies.
  • Research, analyze, and test new technology and tools for cost savings or improved measurement.


  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with internal business groups to support new business opportunities and to support day-to-day business.

  • Minimum of (5) five years of experience in natural gas operations or measurement engineering subject areas with direct work experience in natural gas measurement required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering, or relevant technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.


  • Able to lead and develop a team of technical specialists and technical trainers.
  • Ability to work with a team, take general directions from several sources, focus attention on details and complete projects.
  • Ability to organize, schedule and prioritize departmental and individual work to meet various schedules and objectives.
  • Knowledge of natural gas measurement standards, equipment, principles, practices and functionality. 
  • Ability to analyze business reporting information and recommend improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve sophisticated issues/problems.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of employees and company assets, and the public.
  • Ability to generate and present technical reports and standards using typical computer-based office applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Must be able to routinely perform this work for an average of 6-8 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Light work. The employee is continuously moving about the job site or office space. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of reaching and moving controls exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Willing to travel up to 10% (e.g., 2 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job and the employee must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
