In this role the Project Representative will lead electrical projects associated with the Distribution System Integrity Plan (DSIP). 

SALARY RANGE:   $78,200 - $117,300 (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:   Construction Planning Manager

LOCATION:   Rapid City, South Dakota

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Act as project manager to schedule, direct, and coordinate daily construction activities of contractor crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, on budget, and to the Company’s specifications. 
  • Track all work orders coming from the Construction Planning Department until they are completed and returned with all the required as-built documentation.
  • Ensure the quality of all work completed by contractor crews prior to energization and project completion. Be the contractor crew’s point of contact for all questions, including but not limited to scheduling, materials, construction standards, switching operations, safety rules, customer contacts, permitting, and logistics.
  • Write and submit all required switching request and ensure underground utility locates are completed prior to the start of work when required. 
  • Ensure customer contact is made to get access to all work locations or before all planned outages. 
  • Ensure all duties are performed safely according to BHC safety manual/procedures.
  • Complete regular on-site field visits with contractor crews and be on site when critical line construction steps are being completed. 
  • Create and provide regular written and verbal communication to the management team on project schedules, completions, and progress. 
  • Communicate with other internal/external stakeholders, related to scheduling, status updates, and expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of (5) five years of electrical construction, project management or relevant experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical standards for construction, methods, and materials.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of project management methods.
  • Strong knowledge of computers and ability to use Microsoft Word Office products and trade related software.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, contractors and employees.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of a crew in a safe and efficient manner.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Light work. The employee is continuously moving about the job site or office space. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of reaching and moving controls exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate to high noise level. Worker is subject to hazards including variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and or moving vehicles. Willing to travel occasionally (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.
