In this important role you will effectively lead a service and operations workforce, focusing on obtaining organizational objectives within the guidelines of providing safe, reliable natural gas utility service to customers.

SALARY RANGE:   $85,450 - $140,900 (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Proactively promote and lead safety initiatives in all phases of operations and in compliance with DOT, State, and Company standards. 
  • Supervise, schedule, train, and develop front-line employees performing work in the areas of construction, maintenance, appliance repair, and customer and administrative support.   
  • Manage employee & labor relations issues at the operational level, with assistance from Human Resources.   
  • Implement annual gas operating plans at a competitive cost, on time, and at agreed to levels of quality.   
  • Develop district level budgets.  
  • Oversee and ensure the completion of all regulated/mandated work.  
  • Ensure that customers receive excellent levels of service.  
  • Respond to and resolve customer requests and issues. 
  • Actively participate in maintaining favorable community relations. 
  • Promote, sell, and manage non-regulated service programs, such as Service Guard and Technical Services.  
  • Actively sponsor or lead continuous improvement efforts and create a positive environment that empowers all employees to continuously improve.
  • Make daily decisions that positively impact capital and maintenance programs including third party contractors.   
  • Support vendor of choice relationships with utility and non-utility groups to meet non-regulated revenue and margin goals. 
  • Partner with other departments and personnel to continuously improve processes.  
  • Provide technical, financial, and operational expertise.   
  • Maintain training records and compliance documentation.  
  • Respond to emergency situations. 
  • Participate in the emergency on-call rotation schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of utility industry, gas operations, or other relevant experience required.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Supervisory experience or proven ability to lead employees in a unionized environment.  Proven leadership skills including coaching and engaging required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Financial management, budgetary, planning, and forecasting skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee continuously moves about the office and the job sites and operates machines and equipment. Employee frequently accesses low and high areas with additional equipment, ascends/descends stairs, maintains coordination, and engages in repetitive motions (kneeling, reaching). Employee may occasionally use a respirator. Employee operates job related equipment and tools. Employee routinely performs this work for an average of 8-10 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is expected. 

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Light work. The employee is continuously moving about the job site or office space. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of reaching and moving controls exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level and occasionally outdoors in sometimes inclement weather. Worker may be subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in places of height or close quarters. Willing to travel up to 10% (e.g. 2 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job and the employee must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
