Safely check, test, troubleshoot, adjust, calibrate and maintain instrumentation, controls, electronic equipment and plant electrical systems for a power plant consisting of two simple cycle GE LMS100 gas turbine generators, one simple cycle GE LM6000 gas turbine generator, two 2x1 combined cycle blocks each consisting of two LM6000 gas turbine generators, two Nooter/Erickson heat recovery steam generators and one Siemens steam turbine generator and a balance of plant auxiliary equipment.

PAY RANGE:   $31.30 - $47.04 per hour (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

  • Coordinate daily maintenance of instrument, control and electronic equipment and systems including: GE Aeroderivative (LM6000, LMS100), Siemens T3000 DCS, GE Mark VI, MarkVIe and Woodward Micronet Turbine Controls, Allen Bradley PLCs, CEMS, Voltage Regulators, Power System Stabilizers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of combined cycle power plant operations to include start-up, shutdown and emergency operational actions.
  • Perform both routine and non-routine preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Assist O & M Specialists in starting up, operating, and monitoring plant operations.
  • Requisition and assist in ordering and receiving plant materials.
  • Work with and direct contractors and other temporary on-site activities.
  • Use installed and portable test equipment and technical manuals to troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Perform chemical analysis on plant water systems which include, demineralized water, condensate water, feedwater, cooling water, and raw water.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on a reverse osmosis, mixed bed type demineralizer and wastewater systems
  • Review station logbooks, dispatch schedule and the daily read file daily.
  • Continually update Jumper and Lifted Wire Log.


  • Maintenance and upkeep of site buildings and grounds.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain calibration, maintenance and drawing revision records for instrument and control systems.
  • Maintain plant logs on equipment operation.
  • Provide information for various plant reports. 


  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience working in a combined cycle/gas turbine power plant with two (2) years of technical experience in the operation, calibration and maintenance of process control instruments and systems. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.


  • Calibration and maintenance of process control equipment.
  • Electronic systems common to a combined cycle power plant. 
  • Detailed knowledge of operating a power plant.
  • Detailed knowledge of power plant systems and their interrelationships.
  • Thorough knowledge and/or background for operating and maintaining mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer based preventive maintenance programs.
  • Understand the principles of chemistry and their relationship to power plant operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of plant hazards and safety equipment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and various other programs.
  • Ability to understand engineering design drawings, vendor equipment drawings and technical information.
  • Ability to use mechanical tools and hand tools and to occasionally perform heavy lifting.
  • Ability to make effective long term and instantaneous decisions.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to be certified in the use of respirators.
  • Familiarity with standard power plant PPE and its proper use.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee continuously moves about the job site and operates machines and equipment, ascends/descends stairs and ladders, maintains coordination, and works at elevated heights.  Employee frequently balances, engages in repetitive motions (kneeling, reaching) and uses a respirator. Employee may occasionally remain sedentary. Employee operates job related equipment and tools. Employee routinely performs this work for an average of 8-12 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is expected. 

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors subject to sometimes high temperatures. Routinely perform work outdoors in sometimes inclement weather with moderate to high noise level. Worker may be subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in places of height or close quarters (i.e. crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, narrow aisles of passageways), as well as maneuver in, over or around obstacles. Worker may be subject to vibration such as oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. Willing to travel occasionally (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.
