Job Specifications

Responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, and clean-up of stationary and mobile equipment and to maintain a safe work area.  Provide manual assistance to assigned projects.

PAY RANGE: (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

  • Level I: $21.71 – $32.72 per hour
  • Level II: $23.89 – $35.70 per hour
  • Level III: $26.71 – $40.07 per hour
  • Senior Level: $30.05 – $44.95 per hour

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:   Mine Operations Supervisor

LOCATION:   Gillette, Wyoming


  • Complete all requirements of the WRD Operation Technician Sr and maintain satisfactory and safe job performance.
  • Communicate with supervisor on operating conditions and other pertinent information of assigned work areas and vehicles. (i.e. conveyor, load out, mobile equipment, etc.).  
  • Be familiar with equipment operating limits, parameters, operating procedures and systems and perform corrective actions if limits are exceeded in assigned equipment.
  • Utilize proper operating techniques of assigned equipment and assist with moving conveyor and trailing cables.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Work safely, following company policies, procedures and work practices in a positive, cooperative, and productive manner.
  • Complete all required computer and paperwork.
  • Maintain professional working relations with mine personnel.
  • Assist other mine personnel or job task as directed. 


Level I:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain MSHA certification within 90 days of hire required. 

Level II: 

  • Minimum of (3) three years of relevant experience involving equipment operation and/or maintenance required. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • MSHA experienced miner certification required.

Level III: 

  • Minimum of (4) four years of relevant experience involving equipment operation and/or maintenance. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • MSHA experienced miner certification required.

Senior Level: 

  • Minimum of (5) five years of relevant experience involving equipment operation and/or maintenance required. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • MSHA experienced miner certification required.


  • Knowledge of mobile and stationary mine equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance on mobile and stationary mine equipment. 
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with individuals and small groups of employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals to complete work assigned.
