Job Specifications

Provide engineering services to our natural gas utility operations in multiple states.  Reviews industry regulations and develop procedures to ensure compliance.  Work in partnership with state operations to ensure safe, reliable service to customers. Performs complex system analysis and oversees implementation of actions and measures. Leads a variety of natural gas projects with limited supervision.

SALARY RANGE: $80,550 - $120,800 (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the candidate).

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Design Engineering Manager

LOCATION: This position may be located in Fayetteville, Arkansas; Denver, Colorado; or Council Bluffs, Iowa.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Provides general engineering support and service to natural gas operations in the company’s multiple state natural gas business.
  • Ability to anticipate, perform complex analysis, and solve a range of problems by analyzing possible solutions using standard engineering procedures.
  • Perform flow scenario analysis reviews of transmission and distribution systems.
  • Responsible for the hydraulic analysis of significant additions and modifications to the piping and pressure regulation systems within the company.
  •  Develop criteria and implement consistent usage of analysis relating to the design and growth of the gas piping and pressure regulating systems.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards; Proficient knowledge of 49 CFR 192.
  • Maintain positive partnerships with state and federal pipeline safety commissions. 
  • Champion of industry and company safety practices.
  • Actively seeks improvements for work processes across the department; leads initiatives as assigned. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Participates in community relations-based activities.
  • Participates in state and federal audits.
  • Travel as necessary to support activities for natural gas operations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant.

Engineer II:

  • Minimum of (1) one year of gas industry experience; with proven knowledge of natural gas operations required.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Demonstrated technical and operational expertise.
  • Proficient knowledge of network design, standards,  system operations and hydraulic pipeline modeling.
  • Proficient understanding and application of advanced natural gas engineering principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing and editing skills.
  • Effective presentation, facilitation, and training skills.
  • Proficient in word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Team player and demonstrated ability to lead and participate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage projects of varying scale simultaneously.
  • Ability to thoroughly document analytical work.
  • Self-starter, energetic, and proactive.
