Job Specifications

Responsible for supervision of a BHE gas transmission as-building team. Lead and train reporting GIS technicians to post accurate and timely as-builts per required specifications.  Possess detailed understanding of transmission engineering and integrity principles.  Coordinate closely with direct supervisor and other other applicable teams to ensure team is following mapping standards and protocols. 

SALARY RANGE: $86,550 - $129,900 (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

LOCATION:   Council Bluffs, Iowa

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise GIS technicians (internal and contractors) in posting transmission as-builts to GIS. 
  • Ensure the team's mission and individual roles are understood and work is performed accordingly.
  • Provide input and feedback to the Gas GIS Mapping Program Manager to help streamline tools, workflows and processes. 
  • Ensure direct reports follow transmission as-built QC workflows and processes that promote accuracy, standardization and training over time.
  • Conduct meetings with field operations to ensure timely, accurate and complete as-built posting to GIS.
  • Manage direct reports performance per BHE performance management guidelines.
  • Assist in the development of reports to track and communicate transmission as-built program.
  • Provide support and training for transmission as-building related tasks and workflows.
  • Stay current with transmission specific regulatory requirements and communicate to Gas GIS Mapping Program Manager to ensure they are accommodated by as-building tools and processes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Remain current in knowledge on GIS technology and trends. 
  • Remain current on gas transmission regulations
  • Help promote safety to direct reports and throughout the entire organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of (3) three years of GIS mapping or other relevant experience required. Minimum of (2) two years of transmission GIS related experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of GIS concepts.
  • Understanding of linear referencing (LRS) and stationing concepts as it relates to managing pipelines
  • Proficiency with Esri APR tools.
  • Engineering knowledge of gas distribution and transmission systems.
  • Knowledge of gas utility business processes, operating standards and construction standards.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare and give presentations and trainings to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
