Support Generation Facilities with Capital Project Management, O&M Project management and support, and Operational analysis of plant performance.

SALARY RANGE: Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.

  • Generation Engineer II: $80,550 – $120,800
  • Generation Engineer Senior: $90,250 – $148,750

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  Manager, Generation Engineer 

LOCATION: Gillette, Wyoming

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently plan, design, manage, and provide engineering oversight for major capital and O&M projects.
  • Create detailed engineering reports, drawing packages, cost estimates, specification, bid documents, and material list for assigned projects.
  • Anticipate and solve a range of problems using standard procedures.
  • Adapt and contribute to department goals and priorities to address business and operational challenges.
  • Maintain a successful partnership with Power Generation facilities.
  • Assist in preparation of annual Strategic Plan, Capital and O&M budget.
  • Provide engineering support to cross-functional teams.
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve process and standards.
  • Knowledge of power generation equipment, standards and specifications.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners internal customers and external vendors. 
  • Maintain a positive professional working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Generation Engineer II:

  • Minimum of (1) one year of engineering experience in power generation or industrial process plants is required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Generation Engineer Senior: 

  • Minimum of (4) four years of engineering experience in power generation or industrial process plants is required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experienced required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Experience handling multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to document analytical work.
  • Good knowledge of basic principles of power generation, industrial plant processes and con systems control principles and instrumentation.
  • Understanding of administration, accounting principles, and project management.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and electrical schematic diagrams. 
  • Working knowledge of plant control systems, communications, arc flash hazard, CEMS, testing and variable frequency drives. 
  • Strong computer skills.  Experience with MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, CMMS (EAM) or similar, PI, and PeopleSoft.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings.
