This role is integral to the Company’s Accounting Systems (AS) Team.  The AS Team is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and developing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and supporting the finance and accounting organization.  The AS team serves as the liaison between business users and IT teams to analyze business requests and provide functional support for PeopleSoft, PowerPlan, Utilities International, Hyperion and other financial systems. Team members assess business requests to establish requirements and feasibility, as well as recommends solutions to improve processes.

SALARY RANGE: Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant

  • Level II: $62,150 - $93,300
  • Senior Level: $80,550 - $120,800

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Financial Systems Manager

LOCATION:  This position will be located at our Corporate Headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota.   

  • Relocation financial assistance is available, amount may vary based on individual circumstances.


  • Provide support for financial system applications and serve as the primary support for end users.  Applications may include but are not limited to PeopleSoft, PowerPlan, Utilities International and Hyperion.
  • Assist in testing, configuration, administration and validation of Applications. 
  • Identify process efficiencies, recommend innovative use of software functionality, communicate design, implement solutions and train end-users.
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement process improvements for utilization of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets in accounting and finance to enhance internal controls and improve efficiencies.  
  • Facilitate work sessions with business users to develop functional business requirements for complex projects.
  • Translate business/functional requirements into technical specifications for the IT organization.
  • Facilitate business process redesign sessions and create documentation, as needed for new methodology.
  • Provide testing and design support and consultation for assigned projects.
  • Maintain and support system security protocols to ensure internal controls and segregation of duties are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.  


  • Measure customer satisfaction at the end of projects by gathering customer feedback using appropriate techniques to gain, maintain, and improve long-term relationships.
  • Participate in release planning, production validation, and other project related activities as needed. 
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other Finance Business Analysts.


Level II

  • Minimum of (3) three years of experience in a business analyst or similar role is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Senior Level

  • Minimum of (5) five years of experience in a business analyst or similar role is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.


  • Possess an understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning systems and act as a subject matter authority to the finance, accounting and supply chain organization.
  • Query writing knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of accounting terms, interface procedures, and segregation of duties and internal controls. 
  • Understanding of project management. 
  • Demonstrated business analyst skills, including requirements definition, documentation, system testing, and user training.
  • Adaptability to changing business environments.
  • Ability to act as a change agent to finance and business organization.
  • Must be skilled at creating functional & technical requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite.
