We are seeking a self-motivated and professional Senior Legal Assistant to provide legal administrative and clerical support to the senior attorneys in the department, General Counsel, and the Board of Directors.  You will also maintain records and files related to department activities.

SALARY RANGE:   $30.05 - $44.95 per hour (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:   This position will support the VP - Governance, Corporate Secretary and Deputy General Counsel.

LOCATION: Our Corporate Headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide general information and administrative support including scheduling meetings, maintaining and coordinating calendars, booking travel and lodging, processing expenses, creating agenda and itineraries and assisting with other needs of senior level attorneys, C-Suite executives and board members.
  • Arrange, coordinate, and provide on-site staff support for quarterly Board meetings for Directors and Senior Management, including the selection of vendors, booking of event spaces, coordinating travel and lodging needs, and planning meals.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing Board meeting materials for quarterly meetings, special meetings, and committee meetings as scheduled and perform research in corporate records and on governance topics, as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of Board, Governance, Legal and other company business of a sensitive nature.
  • Assist VP and SVP with monthly activity report generation for the CEO, and effectively prepare and manage correspondence. 
  • Work with a diverse group of internal clients at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a document system to ensure availability of accurate, timely information and to improve the workflow.
  • Accurately code legal invoices, build routine year-to-date financial reports, and assist with the annual budget process as assigned.
  • Perform any other special projects and/or duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of (5) five years of experience in a legal administrative assistant or office management role supporting senior attorneys required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Certification from the National Association of Legal Professionals (NALS) or the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).
  • Experience handling legal calendars and files.
  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential information and maintaining strict confidentiality of business information.
  • Knowledge of legal and office administrative procedures.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to function independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and projects in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel, Power Point and various specialized software/programs.
