Job Specifications

In this important role you will provide cost effective diaphragm, rotary and/or turbine meter repair and testing services for a six state territory to ensure accurate measurement of gas volumes sold. Duties are to be performed within established company, industry and safety practices, guidelines or procedures.

WAGE RANGE:   $26.33 - $32.11 per hour (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Meter Shop Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs meter tests, determines repair classifications, and calibrates different types and manufactures of diaphragm, rotary and/or turbine meters using automated and computerized proving equipment.
  • Inputs meter data into the system by way of prover mounted keypad and uploads data collected on a PC to the mainframe computer or utilize transfer prover or to test on a daily basis.
  • Trouble shoots and repairs different types and manufactures of diaphragm, rotary and/or turbine meters.
  • Test meters for case leaks, repairs leaks as found and prepares meters for repainting.
  • Completes appropriate documents for the necessary tracking of individual production.
  • Maintains shop equipment associated with job duties. Keeps workplace in a neat and orderly manner. Operates forklift to systematically organize baskets and pallets of meters.
  • Performs quality control inspections on new or remanufactured equipment.
  • Attend safety meetings and other employee training as assigned.
  • Performs other duties, which are similar, related or incidental to this position and may work as directed, in other activities that require skills of a higher classification if qualified, as per Article 15 Section 3.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year experience with trouble shooting and repairing diaphragm meters and on related equipment used to provide meter test and repair services on diaphragm and/or rotary and/or turbine meters or equivalent experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Operational understanding of the workings of diaphragm and/or rotary and/or turbine meters of all manufactures.
  • Knowledge of sonic nozzle prover operation, and/or transfer prover meter calibration, test procedures and practices.
  • Good analytical, mechanical and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate workflow with other departments or field location needs.
  • The ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to work in a production atmosphere performing routine or repetitive activities.
