Responsible for organizing, executing, and providing operational management for key RNG interconnection receipt points.  Oversee commissioning of RNG projects.  Establish curriculum, validate specifications, and provide technical training on all RNG receipt point equipment.

SALARY RANGE:   $87,600 - $144,400 (Determined by the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:   Director, BHERR Origination

LOCATION:  This position can be located in Denver, Colorado, Council Bluffs, Iowa, or Lincoln, Nebraska.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for general operational support of all RNG interconnection projects.  Works as a member of BHERR to assure that quality and established RNG guidelines and specifications are being met corporately.
  • Partners closely with both NGU Operations and Measurement teams, as well as Third Party contractors, to provide the necessary support corporately, and works with other peers in the industry to demonstrate best practices.  Focuses on improvement of operational efficiencies, reduction of costs, integration of activities, and delivery of excellent customer service.  Serves as point of contact for stakeholders to insure consistency and alignment.
  • Verifies that all in-service RNG receipt points operate at peak performance to maintain optimal injection of RNG.  Administers O&M contracts for all RNG compressor facilities.  Assists with commissioning of new RNG receipt points.  Ensures that timely and proper maintenance procedures and standards are adhered to, including adjoining gas assets, monthly oil changes, spare parts procurement and installation, and mechanic and operator site visits.     
  • Supports implementation and adherence to corporate Biomethane Quality Specifications and Procedures, including proper RNG sampling procedures.  Follows up on periodic quality test reports, especially failures.  Acts as liaison with RNG Project Developers regarding Biomethane Quality Specification questions and issues.  Provides gas quality equipment specifications to insure biomethane standards are implemented..  Leads corporate involvement in Factory Authorized Testing (FAT) of vendor supplied gas quality equipment.  
  • Tracks operational and maintenance costs of RNG receipt points to insure adequate cost recovery in feasibility models.  Assists in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets for BHERR.  Provides analysis and recommendations into the preparation of annual operating budgets.
  • Ensures all policies, procedures and work rules are clearly communicated and applied consistently.  Confirms that strict compliance is maintained with all environmental and governmental regulations, corporate policies, and laws.
  • Provides guidance while maintaining relationships with State Regulatory Authorities, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other pertinent regulatory agencies to remain informed of the status of any/all compliance matters.
  • Acts as a leader in continuous improvement efforts and creates a positive environment that empowers all employees to continuously improve.  Improves work processes within assigned project(s) while demonstrating the ability to prioritize issues, develop and implement solutions and functional strategies.
  • Ensures proactive clear, timely and complete communications on RNG receipt point objectives, status, and obstacles with the various NGU Directors of Operations, Third Party contractors, and other stakeholders. Participates in selecting and fostering positive relationships with Third Party contractors, material suppliers, and customers to expedite project quality, cost, and completion times.
  • Travels to RNG project sites across all NGU’s.  Responds to emergency situations when needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports creation of corporate RNG equipment training program.  Assists with development of  curriculum, scheduling and providing RNG technical training and OQ for Operations and Measurement teams. 
  • Leads development of RNG Procedures Manual.  Creates partnerships to ensure full implementation of Procedures Manual and addresses outstanding issues.  Provides updates as necessary to BHERR.
  • Continues education of RNG markets, technology, and methods.  Attends relevant conferences as available and appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of (5) five years of relevant utility industry experience and knowledge of gas measurement, quality and/or operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of principles of utility operations, including Gas Measurement, Quality and DOT/Regulatory compliance.
  • Solid knowledge of the Renewable Natural Gas industry, particularly utility receipt point quality assurance equipment.
  • Working knowledge of RNG technologies. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and direct the work of personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be effective in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Financial management, budgetary, planning, and forecasting skills.   
  • Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software).   
  • Ability to participate in cross-functional teams and manage external contractors, including maintaining positive relationships with RNG Project Developers without compromising integrity, quality, or results.   
  • Effective project management and project resolution skills.

Employee may occasionally use a respirator. Employee operates job related equipment and tools. Employee routinely performs this work for an average of 8-10 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is expected. 

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level and occasionally outdoors in sometimes inclement weather. Worker may be subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in places of height or close quarters. Willing to travel up to 50% (e.g., 2 weeks or 10 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job and the employee must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
