POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is within the IT Business Applications Department. This position offers the ability to work with several programming languages, scripting languages and databases.  It also allows for full access to the software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering thru system change control and implementation.   This is a very technical position that offers a wide range of applications development related duties, technical support, and day-to-day operational oversight in the support of system enhancements/upgrades and integration initiatives for supporting business processes.  

SALARY RANGE:   Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.

  • Level I: $23.20 - $34.66 per hour
  • Level II: $71,550 – $107,400
  • Senior: $84,050 – $126,100

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  IT Business Applications Supervisor

LOCATION: Rapid City, South Dakota or Council Bluffs, Iowa

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Proven experience of more than five (5) years in development with a background in one or more programming languages using established standards and naming conventions.
  • Learns existing business processes to support current business activities as well as participate in the design and development of more efficient procedures or processes.
  • Design, develop and test software applications in large, complex systems showing creativity and problem-solving skills. 
  • Work with business analysts and application users to define and design robust user centric application solutions
  • Collaborate with database resources to ensure robust and complete data access and manipulation
  • Designs and/or creates database structures, data migration/conversion techniques for system(s) 
  • Experience with support and architectural design of multi-tiered applications.
  • Experience with integrating systems of various technologies.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience with troubleshooting system issues including application, database, and network.
  • Assist with the installation and configuration of complex software systems following established IT procedures and change control standards.
  • Create and maintain Windows and Linux scripts in support of EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) efforts. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

Level I: 

  • Minimum of one (1) or more years of development experience in developing/programming 
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Level II:

  • Minimum of three (3) or more years of development experience in developing/programming 
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Senior Level: 

  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of development experience in development/programming.
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related IT developer experience. Supporting a customer-based application is very positive.   
  • Natural language experience is extremely positive. Cobol or Easytrieve programming experience are helpful. C++ is easily transferrable.
  • Automic, Report Services, and EntireX experience.
  • Unix/Linux knowledge and scripting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously (67% or more) required to: use fingers and hands, communicate, and have close visual acuity. Employee is frequently (34-66%) required to: reach, push/pull, ascend/descend stairs, position self to access lower items, and move about the office.  Employee must be able to operate routine office equipment including computers and similar equipment. Must be able to routinely perform this work for an average of 6-8 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or continuously to lift, carry, push, pull or sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work environment: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Must be capable of occasional travel (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.
